Patience is spent betwixt the gods and the grass
If too little is too much, I guess I’m just easily overwhelmed
Cast out the dogs, let the frightened feline oversaturate your mind
And how many dreams did you have to give up
For having two extensions of your love?
Where will I be when the getting’s good?
Probably somewhere underground in my Saturday's best
Because I never liked Sundays
Where will I be when the getting’s good
Probably somewhere far away from the crowd
Before my throat decides to close in on itself
I am my own religion
Speak with sincerity
it’s all you can be.

I’m a walking corpse and I get dressed up just to hang outside your wedding but there’s no room for us in that way too small a chapel so we’ll wait at the bar right next door.
This picture looks sad well it’s too bad I used archival ink, and now I have to think of a way to say it wasn’t supposed to turn out quite this way.

They say familiarity breeds predictability and contempt for the family tree that I began to see
Should I go find my own mountain to climb and fall down or canyon of dreams to fall in and climb out.
Got in a bareknuckle fist fight with god and I sure as hell didn’t win but I never gave up
So, he pulled the rug right out from under my feet and kicked me right out of his four-white-walled house.

Your heavy heart was the weight of you whole
And ascended with your spirit
So the only weight that we carried
Was that of the casket
“God saw that he was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around him and whispered Come Home With Me. With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay.”
Pick me up
Pick me up
Pick me up
"A golden heart stopped beating, a determined spirit was at rest; God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.”
October’s cool breeze sun
Your six grandchildren
Will carry you from the alter
down the isle
down the limestone steps outside
And into the hearse
Thomas & I heard you say,
“Pick me up boys.”
“Here we go boys, pick me up”
Pick me up
Pick me up

Go and find your canine and hand her over to her owner you know couldn’t love her more than you ever could.
And lucky for you, last call hasn’t been called yet.
Go find your uncle at his home away from home.
At what point did these homes become a haunting to the family tree with a serpent wrapped around, and when he died the limbs fell down
Kicked to the corners of real estate and allegories I’m writing to figure out why these things turned out the way they did.
Holidays bring me back home just to find out things either got worse, or stayed the same since I’ve been gone.

Raincheck On A Sundance

I’m tip toeing around your language so I don’t scare you away like I used to
And honestly, I’m fearing your rejection as I’m trapped in this bastion while birds are looking in on my exhibition of ink on paper.
Coffee colored snot bubbles hanging from my face, I spit them in the snow to leave a trace
But when the snow melts I’m reminded that no one gave a shit in the first place I was ever out there freezing my ass off for you.
Everyone’s so protective of their past,
So If you’re right babe, so am I.
How about a raincheck on that sundance
That you do all alone in your car every morning before work
With lightweight promises and heavyweight hopes
Bittersweet kisses with romantic tropes
That keep me waiting
